You shoot digital? For the most of us it takes a some time to get familiarised working with color spaces. The good news is, there is an easy way to ship around that issue. Just shoot jpegs, adjust the output color space of the camera to sRGB, which is the default. Don't change colors, brightness or contrast on the monitor until you didn't get the tools and the knowledge to measure out your monitor (point 2 above). If the color saturation is too high, adjust it in the camera menu.
